Brendan Tadler
Each Cube is made using six square slabs of clay that have experienced the process of "slab dropping", a process Luke designed and uses in much of his work. The slabs are connected to create a hollow cube, which is then glazed and fired. The Cube expresses pressure, geometry and materiality. The finish is a matte ivory white.

Luke Shalan is a ceramic artist working in Joshua Tree, CA. While examining both traditional and unconventional forms of production, he emphasizes the importance of creative concept and process in his work. Luke seeks to uncover the nuances found in mundane processes, and continually reminds himself that we are physical beings living in reactive, unpredictable space. Luke enjoys pushing the limits of the material, while continuing to master and utilize traditional forms of ceramic production.
